Looks like we both misspelt it: "prairie" :-)
Oh, I know the TV series was only loosely based on the books, esp. as there were more episodes than any one person could possibly write books (well, esp. back in those days - without word processors), and esp. after it got all a bit too "religeous" and far-fetched, due, I suspect, to the influence of Michael Landon, with "miracles" and stuff.
It went on far too long, like many series (The Waltons for instance) till it became moribund.
