I think you may need a method to first check how many records your selection criteria will return, then actually fetch the data. It could be a bit complex...

I'm not sure if there is a limit in VFP grids, but in our system we limit to 500. It doesn't make much sense to show more data. Though after displaying the warning we allow to proceed...
