>Most of the world agrees that ridding Afghanistan of the Taliban was necessary. Doing Afghanistan right means completely emliminating the Taliban.

I hv no good word to say about Taliban regime. But invading country
based on a VIDEO TAPE is not something I can easily accept as right.
Yes, we all saw plains crushing and people falling down from WTC. Over and over and over again. It was really shoking and painfull to watch for whole world. I cried myself. I can imagine feelings of ordinary Americans watching it repeatedly on national TV.

It is NATURAL that when you show picture of OBL admitting doing it that people will say 'Yeah - you go and get him !!! '. What would be also natural for goodwill/smart government to do is - to CALM situation down!
Examine facts carefully and THEN if there IS hard evidence of another COUNTRY being realy behind it - to take apropriate measures.
There was NO country behind this but some - GROUP of radical muslims (Saudi origin). (Unless proven otherwise; see http://www.911inplanesite.com/)

Instead of that US gov. was adding oil on the fire day by day - flearing up mass hysteria up high, and soon after they started full size war.

More sadly, it reminded me prety much of mass hysteria that Milosevic was cooking up in Serbia back in late 80's and early 90es. He was rallying
abused Kosovo Serbs on almost all major city Squares, organised public (TV)
diggings of WW2 mass graves in (soon to become) Croatia and spreading disturbing rumours all over (soon to explode) Bosnia. We all know how it ended for the whole region.

Taliban regime was just one extreme case of prety usual tirany that still exist troughout Middle east and Nort Africa. What about Saudi Arabia ? OBL is Saudi, half of people on those pictures (9/11) were young Saudies. So how come US did not apply ANY preasure on SaudiA ?? For instance, Saudi Arabia has Religion police (!) that goes arround town and literally beats people (where they find it appropriate!) for religion related offences...
Then there is Syria, Jordan, Kuwait,,,,,Lybia, Marroco etc
LONG LIST ending up of course with 'big daddy' - Iran.

ALL of them have, had in the past or will hv in the furture, radical muslim groups doing their bloody 'agenda' all over the place. So what we are to expect in folowing decade(s)? Does it mean that all of them should be eventually invaded and *done right* ? Where is end (and sanity) to all that?

IMHO, enforcing democracy by invading, *taking out* regime, flattening out into parking lots etc, in eny of these coutries, is solution to the problem just as good - as fixing/upgrading your B&W-TV (into color one) by hitting it repeatedly on top with your feast - as hard as you can. You see picture shaking, getting better/worse for a moment but then (enevitably) it will turn blank. That is exactly the case of Iraq. It might very well explode (burning down half neighbourhood) but it will NEVER become color tv.

I simply don't see how ANY of these two wars can be possibly justified.
With all OBL, 9/11 , WMD's and democracy reasons being included.
Will never do.

I know that you are against the war, so pls don't get defensive on
me here :) I am just stating some of my views/concearns about disturbing World.After.911 situation.

>>>And Iraq is not the least bit necessary. Afghanistan was/is. But attempting to fight a worthless war in Iraq appears to have doomed any possibility of doing Afghanistan right.

>>Got me confused here. Why was Afganistan necessary ?
>>What does it mean in your opinion to do Afganistan right ?
