Turns out the printer is a cheap 9pin dot matrix (microline 321 turbo) who's driver is a little suspect. The windows xp driver wouldn't allow a custom form to be set for it and was really driving me nuts ! When I uninstalled it and installed the win2000 driver I was able to set the form properly and finally get things going.

On another note.... just love the linux FC5 & MySQL 5 as a backend database with VFP as the frontend to it !
