You don't need an actual 'clock' for time-clock software unless you want each employee to have a card to 'punch'. If each employee has an employee number, you can use direct keypad entry on the computer's keyboard (many manufacturing sites simply have a networked pc set aside for this purpose). You can use the system time and have it verified regularly. You could consider magnetic card swipes, barcode swipes, biometric, hand shape recognition, or proxmity cards for the employeee as well. Research online and see interfaces are available. All of those are basically for verifying the employee - the time-clock application is more indepth to track and computer time for the employee, breaks, vacation, appointments, etc.
