Are you using SourceControl at all? I haven't seen those little padlock symbols in SSMS, but I have seen them in VS2005 when using Source Control. We are using Team Foundation Server with our VS2005, but not with SQL Server. I'm not even sure how Source Control works with SQL Server, but I notice there's an option to use it in SSMS, so perhaps that's where your problem is. Just guessing (and I probably shouldn't <g>).
