1) Energy Independece - the dems will not get us there fast enough but will do it a lot faster the the reps/oil industry. We are 10 years behind where we should be and the reps have failed us completely.

2) Moral Highground - Torture/Censorship/Secret prisons - It is far easier to hate something you see practicing evil. We had the support of moderates around the world after 9/11 and we have risked losing them with our leaders actions. We need leaders that stand up and say to the world we will not sacrifice our moral standing for a little extra security.

Regardless of these reasons and more, if I hire someone and they screw up everything they touch. I am inclined to try out someone else and see if they do better.
