I was also thinking of the sick kid scenario. Often, we'd go right from the doctor to the pharmacy or the doctor would call in a prescription and I'd need to pick it up.
Unlike Tracy, I have a pharmacy (in fact, three now) within walking distance. We've walked to the one we use, which is just down the street from the library, many times, but then, we chose to live in this neighborhood partly because it was walkable.
