(Long time no speak!)

I've missed all other conversation on this and I'm too lazy to go back and look, but....

I always approach mystery error messages like this by asking myself "How would I cause this if I wanted it to happen?"

There's always a way to cause the exact message we see. I know I could cause it with an index on a UDF(). Is that involved? How else might we cause this message if we wanted to give someone nightmares?

Something about the index expression is different when you use it from an environment completely outside the VFP environment. What is it that's different?
