As an alternative to Hilmar's suggestion, you could add more digits to the version. For example, 1.0.1234. That isn't a valid numeric value so VFP treats it as a string. In the last section, you can store a sub-version number. For example, within version 1.0, you may have a couple of bug fix builds.
