Actually it's CHR(159) (Ÿ). But in all the textboxes I can see this character, I have format="!", which may explain why I see CHR(159) (Ÿ) and not CHR(152) (ÿ). To add to the confusion, I notice that upper(chr(152)) = chr(152) and lower(chr(159)) = chr(255), but this may very well be a codepage issue.

>It is chr(152) and is typically mapped to CTR+F1. I had some issues in the past where when a form was loaded, only on some systems, every key the user pressed would display chr(152) - the y with the umlaut. It only ocurred at 2 locations and the app was used daily at hundreds of sites (over a thousand). To get started troubleshooting - I wanted to rule out any language/regional settings he may have in place which would affect his keyboard. Especially since it occurs when the shortcut menu on the keyboard is pressed. I have standard English WinXP SP2, VFP set to CP 1252, and nothing else language specific and my shortcut key works as it should. I was just trying to rule out the obvious first. I think you are completely right though Tore - it probably has nothing to do with the keyboard. At one time I was looking at old dos characters in tables and chr(152) was one of them which had to be converted to Windows codepage. I'm very interested to see if what is the underlying cause of

>>Sorry for jumping in, but I believe this problem has nothing to do with the keyboard. I see the Ϋ often myself, and I promise you that this character is not on my keyboard! It shows in textboxes with kode in some of the events, when I press ctrl in combination with any of the function buttons F1-F12.
