Hank,

I gave up the edit button (well not a button per say ) with DOS. In the scenario you described. The Combo box would have a search button by it if need or better yet the product form would have a grid on page 1 of a page frame listing products and page 2 would have individual detail. In this case a user editing the form would not be able to or would be able to search for additional information until saving or would be promted to save. Or a search button would put the whole form into a search mode where all the controls would be blank and allow the user to type different search criteria. This search button would not be enabled during edits. I have worked “in the field” for many years and have found this to be a clear and simple approach.
With the form knowing what “mode” it is in options are enabled / disable in an intelligent fashion. The users are guided though the process. If the Edit buttons are working out for your applications then congrats. I’m looking for a more modern look and feel in my applications. I’ll leave the edit buttons in the past with the DOS code that spawned them.

Thanks
Brian Grant
