It seems that Windows Media Services on Windows Server 2003 does not allow us to set a publishing point at the root. We always have to pass the publishing point reference, which is an additional directory that will appear on the mms link.

For example, in Windows Server 2000, I have defined a publishing point to be d:\MyDirectory. So, I was able to use:

mms://www.myserver.com/myvideofile.wmv
mms://www.myserver.com/VideoPreview/myvideofile.wmv

But, on Windows Server 2003, we have to pass the publishing point reference:

mms://www.myserver.com/mypublishingpoint/myvideofile.wmv
mms://www.myserver.com/mypublishingpoint/VideoPreview/myvideofile.wmv

So, basically, there doesn't seem to be a way to have a file available from the root. Anyone found a way to bypass that?
