This immigration topic is quite "hot" in the U.S., right?

I read a rumor about an American Indian, who is said to have said to some U.S. president, or vice-president (the story varies), something like "You should be very careful with your immigration laws. We were careless with ours."
Difference in opinions hath cost many millions of lives: for instance, whether flesh be bread, or bread be flesh; whether whistling be a vice or a virtue; whether it be better to kiss a post, or throw it into the fire... (from Gulliver's Travels)
