I think it's deserved. The HackFox doesn't try to hide any bugs Fox had, and clearly says what the downsides of each item are. Also doesn't hide the good stuff either. So, it doesn't show undue respect where it isn't deserved, and OTOH isn't falsely modest about the good features. It's just straight.

I should know - I got the book (the 6.0 guide) about eight years ago, and, believe it or not, READ almost all of it.

I also think, related to the Beginners Guide thread, that the introductory chapters of the HackFox are probably the best BGuide we can have. I'd recommend them to anyone coming into VFP from another language.
