Thanks for the suggestion. Problem here is that every users DBC is different (they get to design/create tables and add them to the database at runtime) so I've nothing particularly similar to compare it to. I think the change from VFP3Beta was in the way things were stored in some of the DBC memo fields so the problem might stem from corruption in one of those. In the end I freed all the tables and added them back in to a new DBC just to get them back up and running but I've kept a copy of the bad DBC to look at later...
