For the longest time, several of John Coltrane's 'early' recordings on the Prestige label were only available in a 16-CD set, The Complete Prestige Years. I've never seen it any cheaper than $225.

Well, Prestige just released "John Coltrane: Fearless Leader", a 6-CD set that contains what reviewers have called the best from the original 16-CD set. It contains the material from Coltrane's "More Lasting than Bronze", which many feel is one of his best early works. It goes for $60.

Again, for hardcore Coltrane fans only. ;)
