They are hilarious, but I do think you learn from them, although that kind of upsets Stewart. The 2 shows are one of the few places that point out the inconsistencies and obvious faux pauxs of politicians.

He railed on bush after Abu Grahib came to light. When bush said rummy was doing a great job and faced no threat of punishment over the torture. Stewart went on to state the punishments he faced when he was just a little late to work, yet as far as bush was concerned the torture didn't merit punishment.

Or when the administration finally decided it was the better to distance themselves from Chalabi, instead of trumping him as some great hero to Iraqis. TDS showed a clip of bush stating how he had no idea who Chalabi was, never met him, never invited him into his office to discuss Iraqi strategy.

But then they showed a clip of bush giving his state of the union address. Chalabi was in the second row, right behind laura. When the camera returned to Stewart he went off on bush, mentioning how you just don't buy a seat to that speech. Especially, you must be someone special to get that kind of front section seat.

Things they just don't point out on the nightly news.

>That show and Colbert are hilarious. I need to fire up the Tivo.

>>I haven't watched this TDS clip, but I'm sure it will leave your sides hurting from laughing at the obviousness of it all:

>>>Thomas - not sure if you read the WaPo's Froomkin column, but i have a feeling you'd enjoy it. This one came out after the admin's post NIE statements. Let me know if its behind a login firewall.

>>>>>"The possibility of the United States winning the war and losing the peace in Iraq is real and serious," warned an Army War College report that was completed in February 2003, a month before the invasion. Without an "overwhelming" effort to prepare for the U.S. occupation of Iraq, the report warned: "The United States may find itself in a radically different world over the next few years, a world in which the threat of Saddam Hussein seems like a pale shadow of new problems of America's own making."

>>>>>A half-dozen intelligence reports also warned that American troops could face significant postwar resistance. This foot-high stack of material was distributed at White House meetings of Bush's top foreign policy advisers, but there's no evidence that anyone ever acted on it."It was disseminated. And ignored," said a former senior intelligence official.
