Try the following...

1) In VFP9, SP1 modify a report
2) Select Variables from the Report Menu
3) Click on a variable well down in the listbox (you must have at least a few variables defined)
4) In the Value to Store textbox (assuming you have a fair amount of text in it), left click on the right side of the box and drag to the left and purposely continue dragging past the left edge of the box into the listbox over the first variable in the listbox before lifting the mouse button.
5) Notice the variable selected becomes the first variable and the values in the controls change corresponding to the first variable.

I'm expecting that the variable should not change because I often make this move (ie, step 4) rather quickly and often accidentally select the first variable again. I've made this mistake a couple of times and went on to overwrite the value to store in the first variable unknowingly when I intended to type over the value to store for the variable lower in the list that I had previously selected. So, my feeling is if you are in the process of selecting text, VFP shouldn't assume you are selecting another variable while you are in the middle of selecting text associated with a particular variable.

I consider this a bug. Does anyone know if this has been reported? Has this been discussed here before?

Thanks...
