Out of sheer curiosity, I looked at all the team salaries, on ESPN's site.

In the top 10, only 3 are playoff bound...Yankees, Mets, Dodgers, The other seven are out. The Cubs are the most pathetic...92 million for only 65 wins.

There are five teams in the 11-21 list....St Louis, Detroit, San Diego, Minnesota, and Oakland.

The Yankees team payroll this year is three times that of Oakland - and that gave them five more victories.
