Hi Sergey,

that hasn't helped :( I am able to access the server from another PC (which incidentally has SQL Express installed on it) but can't get it to work from thi snew PC. With the SQL Server ODBC driver I get the message: "SQL Server does not exist or access denied".

Using the newly installed Native Client I get: "Connection string is not valid" and "... this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not accept remote connections" (which is not th eproblem here because I have it configured to accept remote connections and can access the database from another PC).

>I think you're missing SQL Server Native Client. You can download installation package from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=DF0BA5AA-B4BD-4705-AA0A-B477BA72A9CB&DisplayLang=en#SNAC

>>I've just got a new PC and am trying to run an application I developed using SQL Server Express as the back end database, however, I am unable to connect to the database. I've tried to install the MDAC_TYP.exe that I just downloaded from microsoft.com, but it tells me: This setup does not support installing on this operating system. I am running Windows XP Tablet PC version.
