I finished John Keegan's "Intelligence in War" a few weeks ago. Though I loved some chapters, others were poorly written with too much detail. The book examines how import military intelligence is in win war. They examine:
- Nelson chasing Napolean
- Stonewall Jackson in the US civil war
- the UK defence of Crete in WW2
- the battle of Midway
- the battle of the Atlantic in WW2
- the German V1 and V2 rocket program in WW2

The conclusion of the book is surprizing given the title, but the author says really those that "get there firstest with the mostest" win. Intelligence can tip the scales, but greater power wins battles.
