Marty has a reputation for taking over crappy teams and getting them into the playoffs. But his teams usually lose key games against tough opponents.

He made the idiotic decision of the century by starting a rusty Elvis Grbac over a red-hot Rich Gannon in the AFC playoffs in January 1998 against Denver, despite the fact that Gannon lead the Chiefs to six straight wins to finish 13-3.

He's a decent defensive coach, but invariably winds up burning out his defensive unit becasue he can't manage an offense. Over the course of time, his teams wind up losing the time of possession factor.
