Actually it should have been the other way round. Using views for data entry rather than cursors is more flexible because you do not have to manage the updates back. If you are using views for reporting, the only thing you are using is their SQL, so here cursors would be a preffered way.

Moreover, you can create views which send updates to multiple tables. See my response to John for an example.
