Billions Wasted In Iraq? discusses Custer Battles in particular, for the curious.

>>Which really only makes the whole thing sadder. You should have seen what was being passed off as 'reconstructed' after hundreds of millions 'spent' on individual 'projects'.

>Not that I'm trying to defend what has happened (it actually ticks me off pretty bad). But I would be curious to know the level of waste and fraud that occured in the reconstruction of Europe or Japan.
So what would you do even if there was ample proof of that? You can't deny the results: Europe and Japan were rebuilt and have grown again into industrial powers that they were before the war, Japan even more so.
And even if half the money then was squandered, what was the lesson learned from that? How to squander even better 60 years later? How to get away with billions of unaccounted for money?
