Since they'll be very close, they may want to check out Ledson. The place is known as "the castle". Picture the Queen of Hearts' castle from Alice in Wonderland, right down to the white roses that need to be painted red. In addition to enjoyable wines, they have 6 tasting bars and a gourmet deli. The grounds are a great place to picnic.

Someone else mentioned Gloria Ferrer. The view is wonderful and the tour is interesting, but they are a wine bar not a tasting room. This basically means that you need to buy a glass of champagne or a "sampler" rather than having a regular tasting. This is a good place to end the day where you can sit and chat over a glass with friends.

If Cab is their thing have them take the cave tour at Del Doto (this is in Napa and they'll be in Sonoma, but perhaps they could make it the next morning). They take a small group through various barrel tastings of Cabs, and the guide explains the differences in the barrels, oak, toasting etc. They taste a dozen or so different wines right from the barrels and if you want to re-fill your glass they're happy to oblige. This is a reservation only tour and it costs $40/person, but the tasting is nearly unlimited. If he's available, ask for Frank Canonica as the guide.

>Do you make it up to Napa much? Some friends are heading out there in October to catch the concert at BR Cohn and then hit the other wineries. Any recommendations? We went a few years ago, but i'm skipping this trip. FrogsLeap, SilverOak, VineCliff, Swanson, and ElMolino are on the list. I figure you may know of some of the less travelled spots.
