I remember some discussion of a COM "boundary layer". I'm looking for some confirmation.

If a VFP app accesses SQL Server and the VFP app uses a middle tier that is not compiled as a DLL, that app can access the cursors directly.

However with COM, the data would have to be passed from the COM object to the VFP app, probably with XML or something else. Don't tell me this is a negligible performance hit, just confirm that it exists, please.
