UDL files: how to organize them

I have several C++ applications that interface with VFP databases. In the past, I have used ODBC to make that interface. It appears that OLEDB is the preferred strategy now.
So, I need to implement UDL files to store the connection information.
I am looking for suggestions on how to organize UDL files on user systems. With ODBC, Microsoft had a standard entry in the registry for storing ODBC data source information. Does anyone know if a similar strategy for storing UDL files is in use? Either storing in the registry, or within some standard "Data Sources" folder on the hard drive?
How are other people organizing UDL files?
Thanks for your help.
