as you can see on my website (like below) I took the approach to concentrate on a person and his/her immediate relatives (parents, children,siblings)
From there you can fillow the links either up (back in time) or down (your children, grand children etc...)
ore horizontal (siblings)
I thought for the web this is the best way to go as screen size and bandwidth are limited.
On my local machine I have 2 trees one showing one's ancestry, the other showing one's offspring.

>But wouldn't you need to duplicate the tree for a sibling (i.e. load the same set of child nodes in again)? How would you tell from a treeview whether two nodes at the same level shared the same child nodes (i.e ancestors)?
