>what happens to the perpetrators? The proponents of death penalty as a deterrent somehow fail to impose any harsh penalty on their own delinquents. Foley - alcohol rehab. Ouch. DeLay - defended as far as it can go. Santorum - finance the Green Party candidate's campaign to split the vote. Only those who couldn't be defended in court are let down, but not after a long battle. If that doesn't show that party loyalty is appreciated more then plain honesty, I don't know what will. They don't even try to pretend that they're trying to be honest. No better than churches protecting pedophile priests.
Clinton - abuse of power with intern Lewinsky - no punishment
Congressman Condit - no punishment after
finally admitting to an affair with an intern
Congressman Studd - actually had sex with a minor male page and received a censor but nothing else
You are absolutely correct in that nothing ever seems to happen to those who abuse their position of power.
