Can't do better with English language, where nuance has the basic meaning of slight difference in color, then the meaning you quoted, and also the meaning of "nuancedness in behavior", i.e. a nuanced mode of operation. In diplomacy, that includes tact, gestures to show appreciation of your (grrr... again no word for "sagovornik":) person-you-speak-with, and smooth manners.

The dramatic change is required to achieve that (again?).
