Both are corporations -- in fact, I believe that in most states, an LLC may also use the "Inc." extension on their corporate name.
An LLC has some distinct benefits when you form your corporation over a standard "C" or even an "S" corporation here in the USA. There are also a few (very few, IMHO) qualifiers which might not allow you to choose an LLC, depending upon the type of business you have or wish to have in the future.
