>However, lets look at it from our own personal perspective - since Dragan is here without an official job (correct? Dragan correct me if I am wrong), wouldn't that mean
he would be deported (none of us want that)?
I'd probably have to open up an ad for the next country which would want to have me doing business in it :).
I'm paying my taxes, paying my mortgage (hope to get rid of it before next summer)... it's just that I simply have no more patience for the whole job-paperwork-wait cycle. Doing business on my own feels much better, and doesn't require moving again. It also means I'm not to lose a job at the whim of some manager's moods. It's just the market, and I'm carving my niche in it.
Telecommuting is paradise. Being independent is even better. If anyone has too much work on their hands here, welcome :).
> Do we make exceptions - that would be unfair. I guess it would not pertain to him since I am assuming his wife is working legally...
She can't work - such is the law. Her career is actually the price of our being here. She had to switch from being a doctor, working as health inspector for the city back home, to doing cool designs of... well, there's the ear-sew-button link in my signature, just look it up.
One daughter got her green card on the lottery, got a cool job (yes, a programmer) in the neighborhood (commuting just three miles - incredible); other is probably landing a job one of these days (the employers are just slooooooow), so we're into calmer waters now.
