Dunno about Cyprus, but here the denigration we underwent in the nineties doesn't get far. The only remains thereof is that if you have one of us in a TV series, he's the bad guy. But in real life, nobody even knows who we are. They mostly think we're somewhere in Russia :). I've actually met a couple of ex-Marines who were on the Adriatic, spying on us and mapping the targets, and they actually like us.
Here they really don't make the difference (in the Serbian meaning of the phrase, "act differently") between us or any others. It's the matter of who you are as a person, the work that you do etc. May have to do with our generally European looks :).
