I assume you mean a variable number of columns. You can accomplish this in VFPs report writer. However, the results may not be satisfying. What you do is to create the column headers as expressions, and use the Print When feature to either print the header or not. The same applies to the detail lines.

The shortcoming of this is that the out isn't centered on the page. However, it is possible to even change the header output. For example, I have a report in which the column headers are the abbreviation of sequential month names, may begin at any given month, and there are a variable number of them. So I know that this can be done.
