Noorda overpaid for WordPerfect to try to fight Microsoft on every front. When that didn't pan out, he decided to fight MS in the courtroom on everything rather than in the marketplace. His business by litigation philosophy continued with his venture capital company as many companies he funded did/do business in the courtroom. SCO is one example.
