It keeps working for minutes after that until it scans all the directories mentioned in the start menu. Not just the files behind the shortcuts, but ALL the files in all the subdirectories below their directories.

I mean I was looking at the HDD beating itself to death in both the cases. This is esp. true with XP, maybe I am wrong but I have noticed that it will give you everything, then slowly and steadily load things one by one slowing the inital stuff you are doing.

But one thing about BBLean is that I have noticed that there is almost a minute of no HDD after which the next lot of apps start loading (probably between the run entries and startup items). If that is discounted then BBLean is faster than Explorer :)
