To turn on RPC (remote procedure calls):
In MS SQL Enterprise Manager,
open the instance that has the linked server
click on Security
Click on Linked Servers
Right-click on the linked server you created and choose Properties
Select the Server Options tab
checkmark RPC
You might also need to checkmark RPC Out as well -- try doing so --
