Former Phillies GM Ed Wade...

He's helped so many OTHER teams win championships...

- Curt Schilling....Wade couldn't handle Schilling being outspoken, and traded Schilling to Arizone in 2000, for four players who made limited contributions to the Phils. Schilling has since had multiple 20-win seasons, plus 2 rings.

- Terry Francona....Wade made Francona the scapegoat for the 2000 Phillies losing 90-some games, and fired him. Francona wins a world series for boston.

- Jim Leyland....Wade passed over Leyland after firing Larry Bowa. There were strong rumors that Wade would feel intimidated by a strong baseball man - and hired Cholly Manuel. Manuel is OK as a hitting coach - as a manager, he's dumber than a bag of hammers. Leyland is 1 game away from taking a 100-loss team last year to the World Series.

- Placido Polanco...Wade made the idiot trade of 2005, trading a great all-around hustler in Polanco to Detroit, for Ugeth Urbina. Gee, that was a good one. Urbina ran into legal trouble, and oh by the way, Polanco has a great batting avg in the post season for Detroit.

So I submit that Wade is the best GM in baseball...for every team OTHER THAN his team.

I have a friend who used to be a sportswriter in the Philly area, who told me that Wade was considered a joke in baseball front offices, and was always outmatched in making deals.

Yes, I'm a bitter Phillies fan...
