>I do see that there is intelligent design as to the above. If I use the arrow keys, it will highlight the clues appropriately. Sometimes it seems to sit on a square and when I type it just keeps replacing the letter.

>UPDATE: Ok, you do highlight the main clue with a box. I obviously didn't spend enough time with it before I posted. BTW, what's with the Roman *holes clue? It's what I think it is, but I don't get the Roman part.

"Roman", ergo a Latin word.

>UPDATE2: Doh! I hit Solution thinking it would just show one word - I now know that's the Reveal button - and it displayed the entire puzzle. Not a problem, but I would have liked an Undo button to get back where I was, but I know that's probably a bit more involved than straight HTML to do.

>UPDATE3: All the ones I was able to answer at all I got right except one. Ok, so it wasn't Roman Assholes. <g> Isn't the answer to 24 down spelled differently? One comment on the content/construction of the puzzle and clues. There is a mixture of very easy and extremely difficult. I think it would be better to keep an entire puzzle within a certain range.

Difficulty is in the eye of beholder. I have no, ahem, clue as to whether it is simple or hard. Specially me coming from another language - you wouldn't believe how helpless I feel when there 's more than ten TV or sports or pop culture (well, later than 80s :) clues in a 15x15, and how easy are some things that were supposed to be hard.

> Sometimes you have to use easy words to make it work but then you can make the clues harder or more clever (like you did with "Garment matching nicely with feathers" - very nice). The other side of that is one like "Paul's sister hosting granpa." I have absolutely no idea what that is, even after reading the solution.

That's very simple for those who read Children of Dune :). That's what theme crosswords are for.

>I know I'm being picky, but you did welcome critics... I will say this, I've tried constructing puzzles before, and people have no idea how tough it really is. I don't know how someone does them day-in and day-out.

Didn't you notice the link to the software that made it, at the bottom?

>UPDATE4: Ok, I'm an idiot. The title of the puzzle. That's why I don't know "Paul's sister hosting granpa." Right? Wormriders, Giovanni's mom, etc. I obviously was one of those kids that failed the joke test given in class where number 1 says to read all the instructions first, the subsequent instructions are all these crazy things like standing up and clucking like a chicken, but the last one says not to do any of the above. If I had actually read the title, I would have know the intent of the clues. Maybe you should use stronger type on the title... <bg>

<vbg>

>UPDATE5: I would like the TAB key to go to the next numbered box. While typing, could it skip any letter that are already filled in? It popped up a message that I had completed the puzzle and to click on submit, but there was no submit. I had some wrong answers, so is that just to send my puzzle back to you? It would be cool if it could highlight in red text the words that were incorrect.

Anything pertaining to the behavior of the software is beyond my control. The software I'm using generates a Java applet which I can then post. I have no idea how it works, nor is there any way to interfere with it. All the setting available are purely cosmetic.
