Hi All

I have a server running W2K/SP4 and a workstation running WXP/SP2. I have a 1Gb NIC connecting the two on a back-to-back connection. Everything working ok.

I run an app on the workstation which locks a record in a DBF file stored on the server. Then the workstation runs a job, which may be take between a few minutes to as much as several hours, and when it is done it updates the record in the DBF file and moves onto the next record which it locks and repeats this process.

This can work perfectly for hundreds of records and many hours but sooner or later when it comes time to update the record it was working on the program crashes saying that it can no longer read/access the dbf file anymore - error 1104, error reading file.

The connection to the server still appears good and I can access any files I want including loading VFP and opening the DBF manually. The program however cannot and I need to exit and restart it.

I have checked that the NIC cards are set to not go to sleep and no power saving features have been set on either the server or the workstation NIC. I have also set the W2K server to never timeout idle connections to shared resources using NET CONFIG SERVER /AUTODISCONNECT:-1.

I opened a copy of VFP and opened another DBF file on the server in a browse window. When my app failed I checked whether the browse window still worked and it did.

Anyone have further suggestions to check/test for?
