Hi guys

I am trying to use CREATEOBJECTEX to implement DCOM with a custom VFP COM object.

I can create the object locally with no problem.

However, I cannot call it from a remote client - i get the following error:

OLE error code 0x80070005: Access is denied.

I realise this is due somewhere down the line to some DCOM security configuration.

However, the VFP Documentation and pretty much everything that came up on Google talks about running DCOMCNFG. However, in XP it appears this has been replaced by the Component Services MMC. I tried to play around with this but my COM object does not appear under DCOM Config. The objects in that list do seem to have the security settings for Launch / Activation / Access but I can find no way of getting my COM object into that list so that I can then configure these settings.

I did find a WIKI Lecture from Craig Bailey which does work with Component Services to create a COM+ Package - however, once I add my DLL to the Components of this package, the security settings are totally different. I tried setting the Package Security settings for Authentication Level for Calls to NONE and Impersonation Level to ANONYMOUS.

This is starting to get irritating!

Does anyone have any advice on how I can configure Component Services correctly?

Kind regards

Phil.
