But in this case I am tasked to rewrite an old ASP classic app that has it. The client wants the same functionality. The reason is that the app is old, and our company guidelines require it to be updated to new standards. I am re-doing it in C#2.0, 3-Tier and closing the myriad security holes it has: weak encryption (actually char transposition), SQL injection holes, and other no-nos.
Once shown to the powers that be with the same functionality (but a newer fresh-look, compliant with our corporate standards for the corporate intranet, as this is an internal app), I'll make the case for changing it. I tried already and was told to just do a quick rewrite w/o reinventing it. Go figure.
