The Bears' offense was truly godawful. As Joe Theismann pointed out late in the game, Rex Grossman was making bad decisions as well as bad passes. He showed that he is still an unknown quantity, capable of greatness and also of rookie QB mistakes.

I was happy the Bears pulled the game out but it was a wake-up call for the Bears and their fans. It showed we certainly can't count on them being as dominant week in and week out as they were the first five weeks. Maybe it's good for them to realize that.

The guy who amazed me, not that it was any big surprise, was Urlacher. He played like a man possessed in the fourth quarter. A lot of people -- fans, anyway -- thought the game was over but he never slowed down. In fact he speeded up. Ripping that ball from Edgarrin James's hands, the one Charles Tillman ran in for a TD, was pure desire.

Next up: a bye week, two weak opponents, and then that brutal three game road trip on the East Coast. By then we should have a much clearer idea how good the Bears are.
