My guys have an interesting rule: the plural goes into the table name (it holds a multitude) and singular in the field name. Therefore, customer code is kupci.kupac (customers.customer).
>And one that I use :): no abreviations inside var/proc/func/method names. Some exceptions apply (like "No" for "Number"). This way, I never ask myself how did I abreviated something in a name and I don't have fuzzy abreviations. The same goes for any other programmer coming after me...
A good exception is the abbreviations which are unforgettable; look at these:
indi_ana - indicator of analytical record
vrana - vrsta analitike (type of analytics - but "vrana" means "crow")
sumpor - suma poreza (sum of the tax - but "sumpor" is "sulphur")
