I'm constantly astounded at the types of stupid decisions managers can make. I had a client that hired some Chinese grad student (or maybe he'd just completed his degree) who, knowing little about a system I'd developed and had been in place for 4 years, started making recommendations about a conversion. I'd already told them I'd convert it from FPW 2.6 to VFP 5 for $8,000. I disagreed with his recommendations and had the reasons to back it up as well as the users behind me. But they thought that guy walked on water and canned me even though the first company he got to quote on the conversion came in at $32,000. So they threw out all the knowledge I'd developed over 4 years, but then they also had to can the first company when they realized they didn't know what they were doing (after spending $12,000). Then they hired another guy and two years later he finally finished the app. It now did what my app did (and only what my app did), but it was in VFP 6. I can't imagine that the overall conversion was anywhere south of $30,000. And 4 months after they hired that Chinese guy, he left because they didn't pay well (something I predicted). Now that's a well run company, huh?

>I've been trying to convince them since VFP7, even the fact that VFP9 now natively does some things that require coding in VFP6 between 2 and 1,600 times faster they won't alter their position.
