Rich;
VMF is a great product! I have used several frameworks including CodeBook (starting with the DOS 2.0 version through the VFP version), VFE, and VMF.
VMF allows me to work the way I want. You can easily use the product as is, or sub class objects and do things the way you want. After about 30 minutes "out of the box" I created a simple one form application which could View, Add, Edit, and Delete records.
Here is a funny story:
I was working at a company about 20 miles from home and took the train each day from Santa Clara to Redwood City. One morning I took the user manual for VMF with me. On the way home (it was winter and about 6 PM – very dark outside) I began to read the users manual and found it to be so interesting! In fact I looked outside only to realize that I had gone through two stations from my stop!
Read the help files (manual). It does not take long to understand the philosophy behind it. This is a product that will reduce development time dramatically, allow you to learn OOP in depth, and deliver robust applications in an individual or team environment.
We all miss Drew Speedy. I remember doing Alpha and Beta testing for him. When I was consulting I used VMF and supported my family. I was able to create applications for much less than other consultants and got more work because of it.
Say hello at the discussion board and ask questions.
