do you have to do any special setup to make it work? Or you just install perforce and tell VFP to use Perforce instead of VSS?

Probably due to open classlibs that happen in VFP IDE when you open close them, this prevents Perforce to access the vcx to generate it's vca, so when you do it manually by right-clicking you automatically find out that the vcx is loaded in the memory, do a clear all and ask for Differences again.
