You'd need to register your app only if it needed to open on doubleclick on a certain file type. I doubt there are many VFP apps out there that need that - I know of just one - so it shouldn't be a concern.

Another thing that you may want to register it for is if you want it to be a COM server - but then a COM server is by definition something you install. Nobody expects such a thing to work off a flash drive.
