is there any reason why

?chr(7) gives me a clear audible sound on a desktop and does not give me any on a laptop?

i have done the obvious like checking if the laptop volume is too low and also if the laptop has sound option at all.

i have checked this on at least 3 different laptops and cant figure out what the reason could be.

maybe i am doing something wrong, some setting somewhere.

any clues?
